For decades, the Dodge Charger and Challenger have represented the pinnacle of pure muscle car power. Nashville drivers could always equip their four-door Charger or two-door Challenger with a robust internal combustion engine (ICE) to produce unbelievable power. While age of the ICE engine might be coming to an end eventually, with Dodge's legendary muscle cars, lovers of an authentic roaring motor will have at least one more hurrah with the next Dodge Charger. That's right: the ICE engine lives on for one more generation.

The Age of Combustion-Engine Muscle Isn't Done Yet

The announcement of the fully electric Dodge Charger Daytona had plenty of classic Dodge muscle car fans in Wilson worried that they'd missed their shot at owning a Charger with an ICE engine. However, Dodge recently announced that the next generation Charger will boast a Hurricane engine, alongside the electric Charger Daytona. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo I6 Hurricane will come with two output levels: a standard version with 420 horsepower, and a high-output version with 550 ponies.

Two Doors or Four?

Most muscle car enthusiasts in Tarboro think of the Charger as Dodge's four-door offering. However, the next-gen Charger will come with both two-door and four-door design variants. The new ICE-powered Chargers will go into production in 2025.
